Top Tips For Picking A Cat Name

Characteristics

Look at your cat and see if anything stands out. Do they have long whiskers, where you name her Whiskers? Maybe she acts a little sassy so a fun name might fit. Seeing your cat or kittens personality can help you to decide a name. A lot of times if a cat has a different color on their paws they might go with mittens, or spot if are speckled.

Favorite Characters

Consider looking back at over your favorite shows over the years and look at characters. Maybe your daughter loves Moana, and they decide to name their cat after their favorite movie. You can never go wrong with a fun name that reminds you of one of your top movies.

Food Names

Or if you are a foodie you might find naming your cat after a favorite food. I have heard some pretty funny names that follow after a food. Cheddar, Bleu, etc.

Easy Name

Consider a name that isn’t too long. Having a more simple name is good because your cat will come to their name and it is easy for little kids to say. Or if you pick a longer name consider using a nickname as well.

No matter how you go about picking a name, just have fun! Your kitten is sure to love you and their name.

Memories

One of the biggest reasons that cats are named certain names is because it evokes memories of something special or important in your life. This can be from a loved one or a fun time in your life that you treasure and hold dear.

I’ve even named some of my cats after my best friends when I was little or a movie character that I really took to!

Random

And last, but not least, is just that you heard a name and totally loved it. There isn’t a rhyme or reason besides the fact that you knew it was the one.

Do you have a favorite female cat name from the list above?
